Functieomschrijving

The Mechanical Configuration Engineer is responsible for maintaining the integrity of released mechanical product definitions while supporting fast customer-specific product configurations (Configure-to-Order).

The primary objective of the role is not the creation of new mechanical designs, but the efficient and accurate implementation of engineering changes that preserve product quality, manufacturing continuity, and documentation integrity.

The role acts as the bridge between Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Project Management and Configuration Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute customer-specific product configurations (CTO) within agreed lead times.

  • Prepare and update mechanical drawings, bills of materials and related technical documentation.

  • Maintain consistency between CAD models, engineering drawings, BOMs and released documentation.

  • Assess incoming change requests and determine whether they fall within the authority of the role or require engineering escalation.

  • Coordinate engineering changes with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Project Management.

  • Ensure released product definitions remain complete, traceable and manufacturable.

  • Support engineering projects by maintaining documentation quality and configuration integrity.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering documentation and configuration processes.
